Funding Criteria

Criteria and application details.

The Chacegrove Family Foundation disburses between £35,000 and £50,000 each year, through up to six grants. We welcome applications for projects where our scale of funding can make a material difference to an initiative. Our criteria are:

  • The funding is project specific and not for general overhead or administrative costs
  • Requests must fall within at least one of our three areas of focus: providing and managing water, combating climate change, and the sustainable use of land
  • Projects should be of a size where our scale of funding can make a material difference
  • We normally fund constituted charities or community interest companies or similar organisations. Funding direct to individuals is not our preferred route
  • Trustees do on occasion individually approve one or two smaller project requests each year but they must still fall within our areas of interest
  • For reasons of governance, we can only provide direct funding to UK or EU based organisations
  • We welcome partnerships that may endure for several or many years

How to apply for funding

  1. Check that your request falls within our areas of interest and criteria above. Please be aware that while we will reply to requests that do fit, we regret that to keep admin costs low we do not reply to unsolicited requests that demonstrably do not meet the funding criteria.
  2. Email us a proposal that succinctly summarises the project purpose, how it fits with our purpose and in not more than 1000 words details how funds would be spent, project goals, milestones and governance
  3. Set out how you would report back to us so that we know how the funds were being spent effectively and would meet our monitoring obligations.
